Character 1st Program
Character 1st is a community-wide initiative which focuses on teaching and
celebrating character and ethics. There are six key character traits:
PATIENCE, HONESTY, RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, KINDNESS, AND PERSEVERANCE.
Each month one of the Character Traits is featured as a theme in the schools and
recognized by businesses and associations.
The following schools participate in the program: Texarkana Arkansas ISD,
Texarkana Texas ISD, Liberty- Eylau ISD, Pleasant Grove ISD, Redwater ISD, Fouke
School District, Trinity Christian School, St. James Day School and Red Lick
ISD.
Character 1st Scholarships Each Spring, the Chamber awards several $500
Good Character Scholarships to Chamber Partner high school students.
Sponsorships for this effort range from $200-$1000 with significant business
promotion available. More significant is the impact these scholarships have on
the students as they pursue additional education after high school. For more
